Born on January 21st. 1960 in Dungun, Terengganu a small town in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, I have always enjoyed the wild outdoors.
I have been on fishing boats that plied the waters of islands like Pulau Tenggol and Pulau Kapas since I was eight.
At that age I always wondered what it would be like to go underwater into the depths of the ocean. At the age of fourteen I collected enough money to buy my first pair of fins and a mask. I also fabricated my own spear from a piece of metal I took off a bucket.
In 1983 I dive on scuba for the first time. In 1989 I became involved professionally in recreational scuba diving. Although at that time I was working in the middle east I would spend most of my free time diving.
After the invasion of Kuwait by the Iraqi forces on August 2nd. 1990 I returned to Malaysia and soon find myself working in the oil industry around Southeast Asia.
This is the time that I become seriously involved in the diving business. I first step foot on Pulau Redang and Perhentian in 1993. Since then I would return to these islands time and time again. My love for the islands prompted me to illustrate and write about them.
"That is a brief story about myself. I am sure you have similar life experiences yourself. Feel free to share it with me. Perhaps I would meet and dive with you one day."
